Kumana National Park
Kumana National Park is a protected area in the south-east of Sri Lanka. It is known for its rich birdlife and is located around 250 km from Colombo. The park covers an area of around 39,000 hectares and is an important refuge for many endangered species. Among the animals that can be seen in Kumana National Park are elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, monkeys and various species of birds.
The park has two main entrances: one to the east and one to the west. The eastern entrance is located near the town of Panama, while the western entrance is about 15 km north of Kudumbigala. There is also a third entrance in the north of the park, but it is less accessible. Kumana National Park is open daily from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.
