Minneriya National Park

Minneriya National Park is a protected area in Sri Lanka consisting mainly of open grassland and forest areas. The park is about 88 square kilometers in size and is located in the Polonnaruwa district, near the town of Habarana.
Minneriya National Park is best known for its herds of elephants that frequent the area during the dry season. There are also many other animals in the park, including sloth bears, leopards, crocodiles, monkeys, water buffalo and many different bird species. There are two main entrances to Minneriya National Park: one in the north and one in the south. Both entrances are easily accessible from the nearby towns of Habarana and Polonnaruwa.
